Who Do You Think You Are...?

Who do you Think you Are? (episode #17) - Lexa Yates

Episode Summary

In today's episode, Glenn and I had the lovely opportunity to get to know better someone who's been a part of our lives through our daughter. Vocal coach, violin teacher, and all 'round beautiful being, Lexa Yates was the inspiration for today's conscious conversation that revolved mainly around music, and the meaning of music in her life, and life in general. Her very definitive opening response of "I am everybody; I am everyone." was the jumping off point for a rich, resonant conversation that touched on the creativity and interconnectivity of music as a universal language; how important and vital the relationship between teacher and student is in determining how the student ends up (or doesn't) finding their voice; how important it is for all of us to be heard (including what Lexa went through when she lost her voice for 4 months due to a cyst on her throat); the power and profundity of sacred music; her affinity for the music of Johann Sebastian Bach; along with some pointers for aspiring song writers (Lexa says it's really not as hard as one might think!) And that's just the overture, so to speak...! This, and so much more...! Plus, there's the super fun Rapid Fire Question Round at the end! A new episode posted every other week!
